The date is April 28,
Spells of Genesis finally released their first iOS and Android application.
Finally, we are seeing real integration of blockchain technology that is available to almost all of the modern world. SoG is unique because cards cannot just be printed off, but have a real and limited value that cannot be replicated. BitCrystals is the currency that fuels these blockchain cards.
Bitcrystal is an alt coin that can be openly traded on cryptocurrency markets such as poloniex
My gamertag is spellcraft and I am currently the 27th best player if the world, catch me on that leaderboard ;)
The problem is, at this phase it's above many of our heads.
This blog will run you through the initial user experience, and how I went about it.
I have been waiting for the app to come out for months, so I downloaded it the day of the release, April 20 2017.
The initial experience isn't too difficult. I was able to download the app like any other, and sign in with a new account. I was prompted through the starting levels and how to go about it.
The app setup does not need explanation, but how the cards work might.
Each card has a attack and health number that symbolizes the respective strength of that card.
In the top right corner of each card is a digit within a circles that represents the speed of that specific card. The top-left represents that cards element.
Speed adds to the overall speed of the orb for each of you cards playing in your team.
When a card is killed in combat, the team loses that speed. In general, cards with a higher speed have lower damage and health -but make up for it. Your team can only have a max of 6 speed.
Speed allows each of your cards to bounce off walls with more momentum, and thus get more hits.
Health is self explanatory, the more health, the harder your card is to defeat.
Damage is the same, the more damage, the sooner the enemy will be defeated.
As you can see from my prized card Carniath Overseer, He has 7 attack, 22 health, and 0 speed.
The colorful crystals above "not enough crystals" are the elemental crystals that are very hard to get
Only from crystallizing cards, and winning special quests.
The gold coins in the top can be acquired from winning battles, and the big blue ones can be bought and won in special quests.
The gameplay is fun because it integrates a simple bounce game with complex strategy of card play.
A well placed orb can do much more for you than a direct shot.
The final step in the initial set-up is to go to the Spell of Genesis online and make sure it is working correctly with your app account.
So get to it and get working, I'll post some more blogs about integrating blockchain-based cards with the Book of Orbs, and some strategy on building your team!
